Vent Covers

Imagine waking to find that during the night, something or someone had lifted off your furnace vent covers?  That's exactly what happened to me.  Often I would awake to find a vent cover lying askew.  I quickly realized that my cats were to blame.  It appeared that the vent cover, or possibly what lie beneath it, was of great interest to my cats.  At first, I thought this was funny and rather unusual.  But then I began to wonder if the cats were dropping things down the vent...case in point:
Do you see that little yellow round object?  That's a cat toy!   I can only imagine the fun my cats must have had watching and listening to that little ball jingle and roll its way into the vent and out of sight.

More of Kaia's Handiwork

Now I know that I am repeating myself here, but I just think it's funny that Kaia will use anything at hand (or should I say "at paw"), to cover her food dish.  Here, she has used her little cat mat for the job.  Note too the distance her bowls have slid across the floor during the process?

Another 'cover up'...

Let me tell you more about my little black cat named Kaia who likes to cover up her uneaten food.  Her brother Sprocket doesn't have such a strong instinct to do this (thank goodness!)  I've already described the time when Kaia used one of my running jackets to cover up her food.  I had left it hanging on the back of the chair and she used her claws to pull it off and onto her bowl.  On another occasion, she used a piece of paper to cover up her food (the dish had been moved at least 12 inches in the process!)  But I'm impressed with how perfectly the paper is balanced on top of the bowl!

An Unusual Habit...

Let me begin by telling you a bit more about my two black cats.  I'll start with Kaia, the petite, 2 1/2 year old female.  She has a peculiar habit of covering her food after she eats.  Now that wouldn't normally be a problem, except that what she uses to cover her food is often something that belongs to me and has no business being on top of cat food!  Have a look:

First Post!

Finally, it's here...my first post!  As I begin this journey into blogging, I intend to share a brief photographic record of life here on Canada's West Coast and of my travel adventures near and far.  I also hope to give you an insight into "my life with cats" (yes, that's plural, as in two!), Sprocket and Kaia.  They are my adopted brother and sister duo, inseparable siblings who, by now, have claimed a large piece of my heart.  Come take a peek into my life and see what fun that I have with this dynamic duo.
